I've been a songwriter for most of my life, and I found the writing of this song very challenging. Not only the language I used, but the literal nature of the song I wrote all sounded so wrong to me!

The song came quite quickly once I started writing, realising that I had a lot of anger in me about the state of the world these days. The recording itself has a bunch of lone take vocals layered in order to create a kind of live feel. It also makes it sound quite imperfect which is making me twitch a little at the moment.

I wrote this song in a beautiful Edwardian house in North London. It's one of my favourite spaces to write and record because you can almost feel the history in the rooms of the house.

Unfortunately I got quite a nasty cold during the writing and did the recording last minute at home.
It's a wonderful feeling to know that I can write what I want, when I want and pretty much perform the work (almost) anywhere without fear. It makes me feel a bit guilty that I have this freedom and I don't make more time and use of it. So many people making art around the world are doing it in such different circumstances.
