We wrote the work mainly in collaboration in our own spaces. We recorded the work at Westminster Kingsway college, as great and free-to-lecturers studio. The significance is pragmatic to our financial situation. If we could choose anywhere to write it may again be in Madrid, as the memories of our last session there are central to our practice.
The work speaks about freedom coming from individuals, then communities and nations harnessing the spirit of rebellion to the state, an attitude often mistaken as antisocial readdressed as pro-democracy and the path to just reform. The text is from radical historian Howard Zinn's 1970 speech "The Problem is Civil Obedience".

Our work often focuses on structural ideas and rhythm in the context of a rock band. Our work at large uses varying compositional forms to realise an ongoing aesthetic statement. We intend for this statement to read as confident, humorous and a political act. We came to write the piece over 2 short sessions.
WTF? How was this not in my Bandcamp collection. I must've bought it from a different account before! Anyway, I've been listening to this since before it was released and a decade on it's still a spectacularly perfect collection of songs. Sounds like a greatest hits album. Literally any track could be chosen as my 'favourite'. Truly astonishing. Steve Lawson
